Her parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as a profession or a pastime, but as a way to develop. As a result, she started writing songs of her own. Her inspirations include famous writers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her love of Bjork's style. In response to her mother's suggestions that people ought not to aim to become famous with the songs she writes, but rather be aware of the significance of them as well as their contribution to society. At age 6, she began to play the piano, and when she was nine, started writing songs. The family did not be aware until fourteen. Aurora's success was never the goal of her. Aurora says she loves creating music. She claims that music is her preferred method of feeling something.
