Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began getting noticed. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox first released music online in 2012. Her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued uploading her music online including her self-released single Bound. On July 21st, 2015, Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes song Sweat It Out. The following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. On the record Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the song Backseat along with Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on October 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, Ari Lennox guested on two tracks with EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was followed by a video in September. Then on the 9th November the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two more singles were released by her on November 13 with the titles Pedigree and One. She appeared with Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16and later released the song as a solo single for her debut album. The song, released with a video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than 3 million times within the first seven days. As a supporting act, she toured together with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
