Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she earned an Emmy Award. Her other credits include her roles in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney, the only child of an United Auto Workers senior executive and domestic worker was raised with her four brothers and sisters. While she had a childhood goal of becoming a journalist, it wasn't until high school that she began modeling. Following her move away from New York City and gaining an experience working with commercials in New York did she achieve her dream of becoming aspiring court reporters. As a teenager her first appearance as an actress came in the soap opera All My Children. Delaney has appeared in a variety of television shows, films and dramatics since then. The professional life she has had is better than her personal life. In the past, this talented actress struggled to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to that failed. The year 2005 was the time she lost custody of the sole child that she had.
